Old Man Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu

This class is reserved for practitioners who want to train for longevity. Unfortunately, not everyone has discovered Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu during the years of their physical prime. No matter what Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu academy you decide to attend, you will see men and women of all ages and walks of life training BJJ. However, there is a different mentality, perspective, and training between the “under 40” and “over 40” crowds on the mats. The younger practitioner can, and often will, instill their physical skill, explosiveness, and athleticism on the mats, pushing their abilities to their limits. The older practitioner typically needs to train differently due to physical limitations, work, family, and other obligations typically seen in the older crowd.

So what is “old man Jiu-Jitsu”? It actually applies to both sexes, not just men. The name has just been coined over the years to give an endearing name to differentiate the styles. There is no age qualification needed to attend these classes, just a different mindset for those who want to train smart and stay healthy.

To clarify, “Old Man Jiu-Jitsu” is still Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. It is no less effective, rewarding, or fun than any other style. This class and style just allow practitioners to train with like-minded individuals.
